Rotary Club of Englewood Sponsors Successful Surgery for GiftOfLife Recipient.
Englewood, FL - GiftOf Live recipient Aliesha and her mother Phillippa arrived in Tampa International Airport from Belize late Sunday evening on February, 13th. On Thursday Doctors operated on her at All Children's Hospital to close a hole in her heart. Alliesha’s procedure was a more difficult and time consuming than expected, but the Dr. was successful in closing her hole thru the Cath lab and feels very good about it! She is already feeling better, swallowing and ready to eat. Phillippa and Aliesha are staying with fellow Rotarians Valerie Wagner and James Humans while here in the USA. Aliesha is expected to be able to return to Englewood Friday afternoon, where she will spend the next few weeks in recovery.
Club President Joseph Mason was glad to hear that they were able to perform the surgery at the Cath lab instead of requiring open heart surgery. "Her recovery will be very fast. In fact she may come home Friday. Thanks to the Angels at All Children's and Rotary's Giftof Life. The Rotarian's from the Englewood club are very proud to be part of it. We do live by the motto "Service Above Self".
